KC CARE’s Well-Woman exams help women protect their health through screenings for breast cancer and gynecological conditions. Recommended for all women starting at 21, Well-Woman exams provide opportunities to learn more about how you can prevent disease and enjoy a healthy life.
Early detection saves lives. Your Well-Woman exam includes a PAP Test, the best screening tool for cervical cancer. We can also test for HPV (human papillomavirus), a common sexually transmitted virus associated with increase risks of cervical cancer. These exams are done on a yearly basis and are performed by a nurse practitioner, physicians’s assistant or physician.
Annual breast exams are key to screening for breast cancer. Mammograms are typically advised for women starting at age 40 to 45. Women with certain risk factors may be advised to start having mammograms at age 30.

KC CARE is an established provider for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to administer the Show Me Health Women and WISEWOMAN programs for uninsured or underinsured women in Missouri.
Show Me Healthy Women
Show Me Healthy Women screens Missouri women for breast and cervical cancer, at no cost to the patient. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in women, with breast cancer as the most common.

This Medicaid program is for women who may need treatment related to precancerous or cancerous conditions. Patients must not already be diagnosed with precancerous or cancerous conditions to qualify.
WISEWOMAN
Patients must be enrolled in Show Me Healthy Women program to qualify for the WISEWOMAN program.
The Well-Integrated Screenings and Evaluation for Women across the Nation (WISEWOMAN) program provides heart conditions and stroke prevention health screenings and a 12-week program with individualized or group health coaching.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. WISEWOMAN helps women learn heart-healthy lifestyles to reduce their risk of these conditions.

This clinic offers women health and wellness management to encourage healthy lifestyles that prevent heart disease and stroke, as well as treatment for risk factors such as hypertension that can lead to increased risk.
